Psychz Networks is highly recommended as one of the best colocation service provider because of our quality network, support, and affordable pricing.
We can surely help you to understand the components required to get into colocation.
In many ways, Colocation suits customers instead of a dedicated server. In colocation, you can choose your own hardware and set it up the way you want and pay for the services provided to host your server like power, bandwidth, physical space, security, cooling, etc.
Let us now go through each component you mentioned in your question
Hardware cost
You can either choose to purchase hardware such as servers/memory/switch/router etc, from the colocation service provider or you can also seek a third-party vendor where you can buy the hardware and then ship it to the location of your Datacenter.
For the same reason, it will be hard for us to share the cost of hardware as we do not know the exact hardware type, brand, quality (new/refurbished) you are looking for.
Power usage
When you rent a rack for colocation at any datacenter, electricity is one of the components you pay for. While most of the Datacenters offer packages with certain charges that cover power usage whereas some colocation providers charge extra for additional power usage.
Remote Hands
Normally, all server maintenance and repairs required are the responsibility of the client, but most providers will offer “remote hands” service for an additional fee and some will include a limited amount of onsite assistance as part of your contract.
From provider to provider, the cost of Remote hands may vary from $150/hour to several hundred.
Managed Colocation
A managed colocation offers clients exactly what they need: 24/7/365 tech support of all the servers situated on their company network. Many Colocation providers offer managed colocation services for clients that do not want to deal with the hassle of managing their own servers and in return charges a certain fee. The fee may vary from provider to provider, data center location, type of managed services included.
As mentioned earlier in this response, you will have to share your exact requirement to know the cost involved in setting up a colocation server rack.
