Intro to DNS
Publisher: Psychz Networks, September 04,2020The Domain Name System (DNS) is the directory of names on the internet, which associates with unique IP addresses. DNS helps users on the internet to connect with websites (e.g., www.netflix.com) using a domain name which are easier to remember instead of IP addresses.
Every device connected to the internet is given an IP address that is necessary to find its appropriate location on the internet. Any internet browser uses IP addresses to reach websites. However, a user uses a website's domain name instead of its IP address because it is easy to memorize a domain name. Here DNS plays a vital role by translating domain names to IP addresses so browsers can load Internet resources. This process involves converting a hostname (e.g., www.netflix.com) into a browser IP address (e.g., 162.XXX.X.X).
