Renting a Rack space is a good idea if you already have hardware available but want to put them someplace else to avoid infrastructure cost. It is also highly effective if you have a support team in place who can look after the servers and keep them running for the business.
However, if you do not know how Colocation works, and neither you have your own IT team to look after the servers remotely, in such scenario, Dedicated server hosting is a smarter choice. To know more about the difference between Colocation and Dedicated Hosting, please see the comparison here https://www.psychz.net/client/kb/en/colocation-vs-managed-hosting.html
To get started on colocation you'll need a rack-mountable server, power circuit cable, network ethernet cable (cat5, cat5e or cat6) and server rails compatible with rack-mount server. If you're colocating one or two servers, a switch is not usually required. For more than 2 servers, we ask that you send in a switch to handle the additional network ports required for connectivity.
We, at Psychz, provide you with one the best colocation services such as VRRP(Virtual Route Redundancy Protocol), BGP session, GRE tunnel and Anycast addon. With 24/7 NOC support, we are always at your beck and call. All packages include Free Remote Hands service which offers 24/7 reboots, button pushing, screen readouts, external device attachment/movement (CDROM, KVMIP, Adapters, etc), hot-swap HDD replacements/additions, hot/cold swappable PSUs, blade server additions. If you require further assistance we offer a la cart managed colocation.
