A lot of interest has been rising off late over the concepts of cloud computing and how it differs from dedicated hosting.
Let us first discuss in brief the concept of dedicated server and cloud server and how is each different. The term "dedicated" implies that the server you buy is completely dedicated for your use. All its resources are utilized to serve your tasks. Once you buy a dedicated server from a dedicated hosting provider, the provider sets up a "physical" server with your required specification in their data center.
The term "cloud" was coined to signify the amalgamation of a cluster of servers working together as a complex set up. Rather than allotting a physical server to each individual customer as in dedicated hosting, the group of servers works together to accomplish the tasks.

Both dedicated as well as cloud services have their benefits and drawbacks. Please refer to the following article to get an understanding of the difference between the two.
