Broadly speaking, when your server is under DDoS(Distributed Denial of Service) attack it experiences high inflow of data that depletes the server performance or even leads to server crash. What happens basically is that the malicious users that intend to cause harm to your server induce bots to anonymous systems all around the world. These bots can be controlled remotely and are designed to perform specific tasks. When the user intends to perform a DDoS attack, he/she simply has to activate the bots. These bots, millions in number, start flooding the server with garbage data. The server, not able to take that kind of load either fails or is not able to allocate resources to genuine users. An attack can lead to an outage where your potential customers won't be able to reach your server (i.e. your website) which can lead to loss to your business. But you don't have to worry because our DDoS protection is highly capable of detecting and mitigating high-end attacks. We have scrubbing facility at all our POPs spread across the globe at 10 locations. This allows our system to mitigate larger attacks when they reach our network. Although we have the capacity of 200gbps in specific POP our peering level may have limited peering arrangements which may cause packet lost, re-transmissions, and latency issues when their peering arrangements are beyond their capacity. Therefore, to deal with larger attack size, with anycast DDOS systems we direct the bad traffic to multiple locations for scrubbing. This way a much larger attack is easily dealt with using "Divide and Conquer" rule.

You can also use many other tools or techniques that are available to fight the DDoS at your end. There are a plethora of tools available to monitor and mitigate these attacks. Some of these tools are mentioned in our article below. Please go through it to have a clear understanding of how these tools work.
