In this response, we hope that to use BungeeCord, you must know it takes at least three servers to make it useful otherwise it is just more effort for your users to get to one server.
Following configuration can help you to handle users from 500 - 800
First Server: BungeeCord proxy
This server is the one that will run the BungeeCord server JAR file. You would also be advertising the IP of this server to your friends.
Most commonly used dedicated server hardware configuration for this is
CPU: Single core Xeon
HD: 1/2 TB HDD
Memory: 16/32 GB ECC
The Hub (the main server)
This server you would like to have a robust configuration because when the users connect to the BungeeCord proxy server's IP, it will re-route those users to this server.
This is the "main" server in your network and this is where you would put all your portals to go to your other servers in the BungeeCord network.
Most commonly used dedicated server hardware configuration
CPU: Dual CPU Quad or Hexa core Xeon
HD: 2/4 TB SSD
Memory: 32/64 GB ECC
Bandwidth: 2500GB Data Transfer
This configuration is strong enough to provide the right environment for the gamers. You must always choose SSD over SATA hard drives as they offer lesser latency on file access read offering faster data access.
Other additional servers.
Once you have at least one server running the proxy and one as the hub, any other servers will be considered extra servers that you can teleport to from the hub. This can have the similar configuration as the proxy server.
