CDN Cache
Publisher: Psychz Networks, January 22,2018This article will focus on a very important feature of CDN, the CDN Cache. The CDN nodes store the data when it is first downloaded from the main server. The users can then access the data from the CDN nodes rather than the main server. Here are some of the properties of the CDN cache that you can set as per your requirement.
1. You can access CDN cache page by clicking on the following link.
https://www.psychz.net/dashboard/client/web/cdn
(NOTE: You will be needed to enter Username and Password to access this link)
2. Click on the "Manage Domain" button on the CDN homepage.
3. The "Manage Domain" page contains a list of all the domains that your device is associated with. Click on the "Manage" button on the right side of the domain to make changes to that domain.
4. Click on the Performance button to explore the "Cache" features of the domain.
5. Under Action, you can click on the gear-like icon "Manage" to explore further options for the desired domain.
5. The "Cache" page contains the option of Settings, Purge, Path, and Bypass.
Cache Purge
As the name suggests, the Cache Purge option is used to purge the cache you have stored in your CDN nodes. You can purge all the cache, purge by specific file extensions, mention the files to purge or even specify a path to purge the data. The Cache Purge page contains a drop-down menu with multiple options you can choose from.
The options are -
Purge All - Use this option to purge all the CDN content.
Purge File - Use this option to purge a specific file. For example document.xls
Purge Extension - You can specify a file extension that will purge all the files with the specified extension. For example JPG, JPEG, PNG, SVG, etc.
Purge Path - You can specify a path to purge the CDN files. All the files in the specified path will be purged. For example yourdomain.com/products/images
Cache Path
You can set up the path where your CDN cache can be stored. All you have to do is select the Cache Path option and click on the "Add" button. Once you click on the "Add" button a pop-up menu will be displayed with the following options.
Location - Please specify the path that you want the cache to be stored in this field.
Extension - e.g. png, mp4, css, html
String Query - As you may know string query is a field in the URL of the website. If you turn this option on, the CDN will cache the string queries for the users to access. However, this is not a recommended action as the string query contains sensitive information and should not be cached.
Stale Content - The stale content is the content that has outdated its TTL(Time To Live) value in the cache. If you turn on the stale content option, the CDN will serve you the required file even if the main server is offline or unresponsive.
TTL - The TTL or Time To Live value is the duration you want the cache to store files. You can set the value by Seconds, Minutes, Hours, Days, Weeks, Months, and Years.
Period - Define the time in Seconds, minutes, hours, days, weeks, Months
Cache Bypass
The Cache Bypass feature enables you to bypass the cache and fetch the files from a different location. Sometimes the Cache Bypass is needed when the data is to be stored in a different location and not in the cache memory.
